Milford Restaurant Tom Quick Inn is Awarded Tom Hoff Medallions
The Historic Preservation Trust of Pike County has awarded the Tom Hoff Stewardship Medallions to the Milford Hospitality Group for the side-by-side classic examples of French Second Empire style comprising the Tom Quick Inn.
Owner Bill Rosado and associated Milford Hospitality Group purchased and restored the buildings, offering a lasting contribution to the Milford National Historic District. Several aspects of existing architecture were maintained and revitalized, such as the bright red and white exterior, the full-length Broad Street veranda, several decorative Native American symbols, and a period mural painted by local artist Harriet Cotterill and her father, Arthur Von Ignatius.
The Historic Preservation Trust of Pike County’s mission is to promote and aid in preservation of historic sites and structures in Pike County. You can read more about their mission by clicking here. In Tom Quick Inn’s extensive history, the recent restoration has breathed new life into a building that has existed since the late 1800s.
The Terwilliger House and its twin, the Centre Square House – the original structures that comprise what is now Tom Quick Inn – were built in 1880 and 1882, respectively, the first as a boarding house and the latter as a hotel. Tom Quick Inn began its story when Bob Phillips bought the two buildings and connected them in 1950. Bill Rosado’s rejuvenation of the Tom Quick Inn has maintained much of this structure with some slight modernization, including redesigned hotel accommodations and a new three-season deck in the Inn’s Signature Room, one of four private spaces offered for events.
The Inn’s curved bar and the antique décor of the restaurant harken back to the historic past of the area, while a fresh menu with cocktail offerings provides Milford and the surrounding region with a unique dining experience.
